Vdara

Vdara is a beautifully patterned glass façade with a unique curved shape amidst one of the architectural wonders of the world called CityCenter right in the middle of Las Vegas. CityCenter is an enormous complex of casinos, shops, hotels, condos, entertainment and more nestled right in the middle of the Strip on the west side of Las Vegas Blvd. nestled between the Monte Carlo on the South and Bellagio north and across from Planet Hollywood and Harmon Ave. This complex features its own free access and off Strip entrances making it really its own city in the middle of the Strip.

Vdara while beautiful in its own right is hardly the most eye catching building in CityCenter, it has a more austere look amidst its neighbors and is easily recognized by the elegant lettering atop the 57 story building. Within you will find a range of fine art like Frank Stella’s 32 foot long “Damascus Gate Variation I” at the reception desk and Peter Wegner’s wall pieces “Day for Night, Night for Day” in the lobby. The entire hotel seeps elegance from suites featuring open floor plans and limited-edition artwork, to the 40,000 square foot Sky Pool & Lounge atop Vdara overlooking CityCenter. While most of CityCenter is extravagant, it is not wasteful, and Vdara is no exception having received the LEED Gold certificate from the U.S. Green Building Council. Vdara also has the first fleet of limousines powered by compressed natural gas, the cleanest burning fuel in the world. Vdara really is a window into the future of architecture and technology.

Vdara attracts a wide range of people, in large part though those staying are seeking something of an escape from the madness of most of the Strip and much of CityCenter. Often the clientele is more upscale, closer to Bellagio’s customer base than Monte Carlo next door; incidentally they have a walkway right to Bellagio for those who would like to gamble. Vdara is not a casino it is only a hotel and spa… and pool with some restaurants and other entertainment, but it is not a casino. Other hotels within CityCenter have gambling and are easily accessed and Bellagio is the easiest casino floor to walk to from Vdara. When planning your stay it is wise to book in advance, particularly on busy weekends or holidays or during the summer. Those staying in Vegas may have better luck booking a room here however than at other hotels with a casino.

Gambling

Bellagio has the nearest gambling hall:
Among poker players the Bellagio is well known. It has a 40 table poker room and many very high limit games almost daily. Bellagio features a large gaming floor, and limits are generally higher within the Bellagio than at other casinos throughout Las Vegas. They also feature high limit areas with both table games and slots, and Bellagio is a favorite of high rollers from all around the world. The race and sports book seats 200, has 137 televisions and 4 big screens. It is a medium sized sports book but one of the nicer ones in town.

Vdara Room

Rooms

Despite the lobby and the overall look of the hotel, Vdara just missed the 5 star rating of hotels like Bellagio, Venetian, her neighboring CityCenter hotel Aria and a select few others and has only received 4.5 stars. That said most feel it is in the 5 star range and from the service to the hospitality the hold themselves to that rating. The rooms are spacious, most with an excellent view, and a modern and comfortable décor. This is a great place for anyone trying to get away from the noise and confusion of the Strip.

Price

This is not an inexpensive place to stay. From the dining to the room rates it is on the higher end of the expense scale for the Strip.

Vdara Restaurant

Restaurants

The only restaurant within is Market Café Vdara, however just outside the door is the CityCenter entertainment and dining district which features endless restaurants from fine dining to spots to catch a quick bite.

Drinks

Bar Vdara is located within. The entertainment district of CityCenter has several options.

Shopping

There is not shopping but Crystals is one of the larges shopping centers in Las Vegas and is located just outside.

Nightlife

There are no clubs, only Bar Vdara, which is upscale but not typical Vegas nightlife.
