Malls Outside of Las Vegas Blvd and Downtown

Wed, Aug 29, 2012

Tired of 50% markups on everything you buy on the Strip? Don’t mind seeing a bit of Vegas outside of the tourist areas? Wanna visit a mall, but not necessarily Armani or Tiffany & Co? Las Vegas is a regular city outside of the casinos, and like any place in America you can find malls, grocery stores, pharmacies, and more pretty much anywhere you go.

Boulevard Mall

A 1.2 million sq ft of retail shops with over 170 shops. It claims to be “Nevada’s larges mall” – and may very well be. However Nevada is a very small State and by city, Boulevard Mall could be called pretty average.

Located on Maryland Parkway between Desert Inn and Twain, it is only a mile or so east of the Strip, and just north of UNLV. There are a number of eateries including Famous Cajun Grill, Cinnabon, Great Wraps, Hibachi San, La Salsa, Panda Express, Dippin’ Dots, Sweet Factory, and many more. Some of the shops you will find are Macy’s, JC Penney, Customistic for custom t-shirts, Footlocker, GNC, Anchor Blue, and dozens of others. It’s a great place if you are looking for something close to the Strip, but without the outrageous prices.

Meadow’s Mall

Also a short trip from the Strip or Downtown, a few miles north on Valley View. Meadow’s Mall is bit smaller than Boulavard Mall but also offers a similar array of shops like those one would find in most malls like JC Penney and Macy’s and others. In addition you will find great stores for kids like K-B Toys. Some of the food available within includes Dairy Queen/ Orange Julius, Haagen Dazs, Pretzel Time, Ethel M. Candies, See’s Candies, McDonalds, and Villa Pizza.

Galleria at Sunset

It is actually located in Henderson – which is a suburb of Las Vegas. Simply go south for about 10 minutes on Sunset and you will see the attractive façade. Galleria is your typical large town mall with the staples of any mall incuding eateries like Dairy Queen and McDonalds. Here you can also find a Starbucks, the Great American Cookie Factory, Panda Express, Quiznos, and much more. If you are looking for sporting goods, this is the place to be. Galleria contains an 85,000 sq ft Dick’s Sporting Goods. Other Stores include Famous Footwear, Macy’s, New York & Company, Hot Topic, Bebe, and Windsor Fashions.

Aston MonteLago Village

A little known cove located in the affluent Lake Las Vegas area some 17 miles east of the Las Vegas Strip. Aston MonteLago Village is actually located in Henderson, and not Las Vegas. Henderson is a suburb of Las Vegas. Aston MonteLago is beautiful with cobbled streets and an Italian theme. Some of the more popular shops you may find are Cathay Las Vegas which specializes in collectibles, PINK – a high-end boutique, Hermitage Art To Wear, Mountain Chocolate Factory, Tutti Gelati with tons of authentic Italian ice cream, and Saxby’s. Along with shopping Aston MonteLago offers a romantic gondola ride and some unique nightlife including Auld Dubliner, an Irish bar.

The District at Green Valley Ranch

Another shopping experience located in Henderson, a Trolley leaves the Strip for the short ride every 15 minutes. The District is in the center of Green Valley with a small village feel, European styling, 40 shops, and a handful of restaurants. Some of the places to eat include Al’s Garage, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Ben & Jerry’s, Crazy Pita, Elephant Bar Restaurant, Gelato Café at Green Valley, Cheesecake Factory, and more. Here you can find shops for mountain bikes and other outdoor equipment at REI, Pottery Barn, Anthropologie which is a home décor and women’s clothing shop, Francesca’s, Along Came a Spider, West Elm, and many others. While here you will find an area for pets, and areas for picnicking.
