You have three choices; hoof it, put up with bumper to bumper traffic, or buy a horse... wait, Vegas has a monorail! Las Vegas has a great monorail actually. It’s a mystery why this gem isn’t more popular. Along with being the absolute fastest way to get from A to B on the Strip, normally it’s not too crowded.
The monorail system started as a joint venture between MGM Grand and Bally’s Hotel – and if two competing hotels coming together to plan a way to make everyone’s Vegas trip more convenient (while making it easier for them to leave their specific hotel) is amazing, what’s even more amazing is that the monorail system serving the Strip turned into a non-profit. Imagine that. The Las Vegas Monorail Company (LVMC) was formed in 2000 and is the only privately owned public transportation system in the United States.
It features the first fully automated control network system for driverless operation. It is one of the most advanced urban transportation systems in the world. Pretty nifty for a small Western city.
Prices: $5 for a single ride. $12 for an all day pass. $28 for a three day pass.
Hours: Monday – Thursday 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Friday – Sunday 7 a.m. to 3 a.m.
