Las Vegas Retirement Party

Mon, Nov 30, -0001

Years of the daily grind have finally paid off, and now you are free to spend your time and chips any leisurely way you want. Why not put your life savings on Red? Okay maybe that is not the best idea, but having your retirement party in Las Vegas might be the best way to celebrate your newly found freedom.

The Actual Party

Regardless of what you do the rest of your time in Vegas, you are going to want to throw an actual party.

Luckily there are all kinds of venues and themes to choose from. You can check the budget section for more information. Hotels on the Strip are always where the most excitement, Flamingo, Mirage, Bellagio, Harrah’s, Venetian, and Wynn are right in the middle of everything. Luxor and Mandalay Bay are also on the Strip, but south of Tropicana. Just off the Strip are the Palms and Rio, both very popular choices. Downtown has a vintage Vegas feel and many of the hotels have seen vast improvement since the recent improvements and Golden Nugget particularly is very nice.

There is more to Vegas than the Strip and Downtown though, and some really nice casinos on the outskirts of town include the various Station Casinos, Sam’s Town, Texas, and Fiesta. These places will offer everything casinos on the Strip offer, but are generally less active and cost less money.

For the party, try out different themes. Some ideas include a Tropical Paradise theme, Sandy Beach, Globe Trotting, Yachting, a Dude Ranch, New Orleans, and Hollywood theme. Basically anything the retiree plans doing during their retirement can be an excellent theme.

A retirement party is also a great time for gifts. Gag gifts are often popular, like an old typewriter or cane with a rear view mirror and horn.

Food for a Retirement Party

Great food is a good idea at any party. If you have a themed party inside your hotel or casino, you may want to consider catering and often the hotel will provide this. Sme popular caterers in Vegas include Las Vegas Catering, Natalie Littlefield’s Catering, Matteo’s Gourmet Food Service, and A Catered Affair. If a restaurant is more your style, here are some good choices:

  • Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville at the Flamingo
  • Kahunaville in Treasure Island
  • Hard Rock Café at the Hard Rock
  • NASCAR Café for race fans, located in the Sahara
  • Rainforest Café inside MGM Grand
  • House of Blues at Mandalay Bay
  • Toby Keith’s I Love this Bar & Grill in Harrah’s
  • Harley Davidson Café on Harmon and Las Vegas Blvd
  • B.B. King’s Blues Club or STACK at the Mirage
  • SPAGO, Planet Hollywood, Joe’s Seafood, or BOA in Caesars

And there are many more depending on what type of food you are looking for and the atmosphere.
