It’s the largest casino in Las Vegas at 171,500 feet of gaming space, and the fifth largest hotel in the world (and the third largest hotel in Las Vegas) so it lives up to its name. You can’t miss it on the northeast side of the very busy corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd, with an absolutely enormous golden lion statue at the entrance and the green Emerald City inspired green exterior. At MGM Grand everything is “grand” and that includes the amazing Cirque Du Soleil production KA.
KA is more than a performance, it’s and adventure! The tale is that of two imperial twins separated by an attack on their Far East palace. Unlike many Cirque shows which take a more vague approach to the story portion of their production, KA’s plot is clear and easy to follow so you find yourself truly caring about the pair of brothers and rooting for them throughout.
From the moment you walk in the theatre you are transported to another time and place. Ancient pillars line the walkway as tribal warriors perch in waiting, often jumping and bouncing about the theatre on bungee cords. Once the show begins there is only a brief narrative of the plot, from then on the story is told through motion, sound, costume, and lighting. Along with a score of amazingly talented actors and acrobats, the stage itself becomes part of the show, shifting and changing to match each scene in a spectacular way. KA is definitely a must see.
