It is perfectly located right in the center of the Strip, yet remains a something of a hidden treasure, as much as that is possible on the Las Vegas Strip. The Monte Carlo has been around for quite some time and is very large with tons of entertainment, dining and nightlife options. Not to mention an enormous 90,000 square foot casino floor. It is a beautiful structure with a fusion of European style and Vegas spunk. While the resort may be a bit unassuming, one thing that is not is the musical Jabbawockeez.
If you don’t necessarily associate hip-hop with live theater, than you will definitely change your mind after you see Jabbawockeez. It is performed by the Philippine dance company MUS.I.C. pronounced muse I see. The show tells a story using break dance brilliantly choreographed and synchronized to perfection. The white masks and gloves worn through the show seem at first an interesting and eye-catching touch; in fact they are worn to ensure that the audience focuses on the dance and not on any one specific dancer.
Today the crew of Jabbawockeez is world renowned, but they actually first became a global sensation when they won MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew” back in 2008. They have appeared all over including on commercials for Pepsi and Gatorade and on television shows like “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Dancing With the Stars,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “Regis & Kelly” and more.
Show times are Thursday through Saturday at 9:30 p.m. and Sunday and Monday at 7:30 p.m. and the theater is dark on Tuesday and Wednesday. There may be two shows a day on busy weekends. Reservations are suggested.
