3355 Las Vegas Blvd South
The Venetian is one of Las Vegas most lavish hotels. Located next to the busy corner of Spring Mountain Rd. and Las Vegas Blvd. across the street from the Mirage, it is easily identified by its beautifully carved exterior and a large obelisk outside. The walkways and street entrance is lined with Venice esc scenery, and this theme does not stop at the door. Upon entering you will find tourists with cameras pointed to the air and as you glance at the glorious ceiling you’ll be dazzled by the detailed fresco leading to the lobby. Something else that will dazzle is the revamped show Phantom – The Las Vegas Spectacular at Venetian, formerly Phantom of the Opera.
The Venetian put $40 million into redesigning the stage and revamped the popular Broadway hit. The stage is designed after 19th century Paris and took 11 months to complete. It seats 1,800. The show still follows the basic Phantom story, but the 2 and a half hour show as been cut down to an hour and a half. One of the most memorable moments is during the climax when the giant chandelier above the crowd drops 45 feet in 3 seconds, stopping only 10 feet above, this usually elicits some screams.
