Las Vegas Guide for Young Adults

Mon, Nov 30, -0001

So you’re old enough to do everything anywhere on earth except drink alcohol and gamble in the United States. We’ve all been there so quit whining and find out exactly what there is to do for the 18-20 crowed in Sin City. You can actually have a really good time.

If you are not coming with parents or someone over 21 many of the hotels won’t rent a room to you. Reason being, gambling naturally is illegal under 21, and casinos can be fined tens of thousands of dollars if it’s found out anyone under has been gambling.

So the long and short of the story is many just don’t let the 18-20 crowed check in.

Every Hotel has its own age policy and most on the Strip do not let anyone reserve a room, so try the smaller off-strip properties. Specifically the Hilton is only a couple blocks off the Strip and a very popular destination.

Clubs

Jet, Bank, Rain, the other clubs regularly featured on MTV and other programs aren’t going to let you through the door.

Plus security at these places is like ID ninja so don’t even try it with your copy and paste “Jack Mahoffer” fake. Here are some places for those under 21:

House of Blues – One of the most popular venues in town, located inside Mandalay. House of Blues also houses a number of the most popular concerts.

Area170 – This 5,000 sq ft warehouse features local DJs and bands usually playing upbeat club mixes. Authorities scan guests at the door and no outside food or drink is allowed.

Frozen75 – In Henderson and about 20 minutes from the Strip, Frozen75 is open Saturday from 7:30 – 11:30 p.m. This caters to a younger crowed, allowing 14-15 year-olds with parental consent. Cars are searched as a safety measure before one may enter, and parents are allowed a free tour during non-operating hours.

The Joint – Inside the Hardrock, The Joint is a small venue that hosts many concerts and DJ’s and is accessible over 18 in most instances. Call ahead.

Thrills

Roller coasters were made for young adults. The best rides by far for this age group are definitely on top of the Stratosphere. The roller coaster at New York-New York and the one at the Sahara are both a lot of fun as well. Circus Circus has the most rides, many of them great for young adults but mostly catering to a younger crowed.
Also check out the new zipline Downtown right on Fremont. If you like racing, Pole Position is a lot of fun located on Arville St. just a short way from the Strip.

Shows and Entertainment

Almost all of the shows in Vegas are open to those 18 and over. Some of the popular ones include Blue Man Group in Venetian, O at Bellagio, Mystere at TI, and Zumanity in New York-New York.

If you are a young Bachelor or Bachelorette, Strip clubs that do not serve alcohol are 18 and over. Some popular shows are Crazy Girls at MGM, and Chippendales in Rio for the ladies.

Gaming

Everyone loves gaming. GameWorks is by far the best place for arcade games and other attractions in that genre for every age. New York-New York, Excalibur, and Circus Circus also have large arcade areas.

Other

Vegas is a great place for any age group. Many enjoy spending at least one day going up and down the Strip or the Downtown area and seeing the different sites. See the Free Stuff to Do in Vegas section for more stuff for young people, and free stuff!
